Heather Duggins
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Hey ya’ll! I would like to welcome you here and introduce myself. My name is Heather Duggins, originally from Woodward Oklahoma. I currently reside in Oklahoma City. For some background, I’m completely obsessed with art in all mediums including oil painting, sketching, collage, sculpting, fashion, interior design, trends, installations etc. I’ve been creating art my entire life. In school I won the Congressional Art Award for Oklahoma State representative Frank Lucas and had my painting “Ralph” displayed in the U.S. Capital Building from 2005-2006. I won the Choctaw Indian calendar cover out of six surrounding states. I moved to Los Ángeles in 2007 to become a professional makeup artist for TV and film. Since then I have worked as a makeup artist for independent films, music videos, and photoshoots. I do custom paintings for clients, create study paintings, and experimental works. Along side this, I create multiple series of paintings to be displayed in showings. My life is very strange, unexpected, energetic, colorful and happy- but inside I have been through many traumas, hard truths, and humbling experiences. This has caused me to look deep within myself and others and decide who I am, and fully own myself. I have had multiple spiritual awakenings. I like to paint my strange dreams, ideas, and trips. I wish to share my visions and feelings with the world so they may see things deeper than the surface. Initially my paintings seem bright and fun, but the message beneath is much darker. Look closely and discover your truth and your relatability to the world. Humble yourself in knowing we are all the same. I love to create subliminal messages through surrealism and realism, using collage and patterns, and color combinations to trick your eyes. My goal is if I could paint a certain way, that it could make your eyes bleed. In my free time, I frequent art museums, obsessively shop at the thrift stores, create art (duhhhhh), drink coffee religiously, make up songs for my dog Zoey, listen to jazz and electronic music, party all the time, try to maintain a zero waste lifestyle, I hate sleeping, I love learning and meeting new people. Let’s hug when we meet💜
