Connor Albrightson
Oklahoma City
My name is Connor Albrightson and I'm a 2D illustrator in Oklahoma City. I grew up in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where I obtained a BFA in Graphic Design at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I currently work part-time as the Marketing & Events Coordinator at the Paseo Arts Association. I began my artistic endeavors at the age of 10, with a heavy focus on cartooning. As new techniques and influences came into play, I began branching out through mediums such as painting, drawing and design. My work has been featured through notable outlets in Oklahoma, such as the Stafford Air & Space Museum and Literati Press & Comics. Whenever I'm not making art, I'm either running, fishing, cooking, reading or traveling. I would describe my style as grungy, but intricate. It's very illustrative, experimental, comical and definitely outside of the norms of art. However, there's a timeless charm that can resonate with anyone. My biggest influence comes from artists from the surrealist and impressionist movements, along with several cartoonists and illustrators. The most important thing I've learned from these influences is that your work doesn't have to be realistic and serious to be considered art. I see my cartoonish style and messy colors as a viable outlet to express my strange ideas. My work is not an excuse to create sloppy art because it's "different," but to stand as proof that there is a charm in the unorthodox.
