Description:

"Roaring Bison" - Canvas- Bison in Tetons "Roaring Bison" is a print that incorporates both my photography and artwork.  This photo was taken near Antelope Flats Road, near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and was processed as a painting through photoshop.  To finish it out, after it is printed on a high quality canvas, I paint over the full piece with a clear gloss acrylic to give it texture and brush strokes that highlight the picture. This is printed 36x36, or 48x48, and features a 1 1/2 inch black gallery wrap.  The detail in this image is incredible. At one time, there was an estimated 30-60 million bison in the US, but in the mid 1800's there was a mass destruction of the bison. The railroad and western expansion led to over 2 million killed in the plains each year. by 1884, there were only around 325 wild bison left in the United States. Fortunately, due to conservation efforts, the herd increased to 1,000 in 1910, and today there are one 500,000 bison in the United States.
