    Oklahoma City

Daniel Nano Christopher Nolop is an artist specializing in mixed media painting, digital photography, and collage, based in Oklahoma City. His journey into art began in grade school, where he developed his skills primarily through self-teaching. Though drawing was an early passion, painting became a focus later in his life. His work is influenced by a range of artists and movements, including Mark Rothko, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Shepard Fairey, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, the Bauhaus movement, graffiti, and ancient petroglyphs. Nolop's notable projects include the *Study of Squares* and the *Samsara* series of paintings, both of which reflect his unique style of alchemic primitivist abstract mark-making. His work rejects strict rules, instead embracing an intuitive, boundaryless approach that draws from both his lived experiences and subconscious visions. The concept of *Samsara*, the Hindu belief in the endless cycle of reincarnation, profoundly informs his art. Through this lens, Nolop encourages viewers to contemplate the universal connection between all forms of life, from friends and family to enemies, strangers, and animals. His art addresses complex themes such as self-comparison, judgment, addiction, mental and social illness, and environmental and governmental issues. Nolop hopes that his work sparks thought, conversation, and new perspectives, providing a bridge to vulnerability and creating a space for quiet reflection. For him, the act of making art is a deeply meditative process, one that allows both artist and viewer to explore deeper truths and inner callings.
